Hidden Gems to Explore in North Wales

It’s no secret that North Wales has ample tourist attractions, all of which cater to a range of guests of all ages. However, if you look a little further off the beaten track, there are many attractions which you may never have even been aware of, hidden away from the front pages of the guide book but guaranteed to give you an experience you will never forget.

From children up to the ‘big kids’, North Wales has an array of hidden gems to keep you entertained and enthralled on your trip. Thanks to its excellent location, Porthmadog is right in the middle of many of the selection of unique and distinctive attractions which make North Wales such a wonderful place to visit.

Zip World

Based at Llechwedd Slate Caverns, Zip World is home to the first 4-person zip line in Europe, which allows you to soar through the trees on an exciting and unforgettable family day out. Fun for all the family, older kids can explore the treetop courses while the younger ones can explore Tree Hoppers, the new part of Zip World designed for younger explorers. There is even an underground attraction which allows you to zip wire through the caverns below the ground.

Bounce Below

Also based at Llechwedd Slate Caverns, Bounce Below is an underground trampoline park which combines all the fun and frolics of a standard trampoline park but in a truly unique setting. Kids from 7 upwards can bounce, slide, play and jump around the park which is the size of a cathedral and equally as awe-inspiring. A great family day out, especially if you want to tire the kids out.

Purple Moose Brewery

For a more adult day out in North Wales, Purple Moose Brewery offers a guided tour around their working brewery with a knowledgeable guide and the opportunity to ask the staff any questions you like. You can then sample the ranges of ales being made at the time, and re-taste them too, before being offered discount in the shop should you wish to buy any of the ales you have seen and tasted. You will also be treated to a free pint in the pub at the end of the tour where you can also grab a bite to eat. If you have accommodation in Porthmadog, the brewery is only a short distance away, so you can make a real day, and night, of it.

Black Rock Llamas

Take a Llama for a walk, learn all about them and their personalities before taking your llama through an assault course. It may not be a day out you have ever considered but Black Rock Llamas truly offers you a unique experience that you are sure not to forget any time soon. The staff are friendly and passionate about their llamas and you can guarantee you will leave feeling just as enamoured with these animals as their carers are.
