Wet weather holidays for the kids in North Wales

With half term on the horizon, temperatures plummeting and snow swishing overhead it can be a challenging time of the year for families. Lots of activities are closed for winter, warm weather for outside activities seems like light years away and the January blues have made us all feel under the weather.

What better time to get away though than February half term? A change of scenery, a chance to see things without having to queue, and fresh air for the kids to let off steam. Wrap them up warm and they don’t really care whether it raining, sunny or freezing cold.

So what family friendly activities can you do at this time of year?

Good question. Attractions really start re-opening again around half term, and so there’s lots of different activities for your children, all over North Wales. Check out some of our other suggestion on family friendly activities in a recent post.

Anglesey Sea Zoo reopens for half term, and being all indoors is a great wet weather day attraction. With 40 tanks packed full of British fish life including seahorses, cat sharks, lobsters and Octopus, there’s also an opportunity to learn about how to conserve wildlife.

If you want to get creative, Piggy Pottery is a great place for adults and children alike. Choose and pay for a piece of pottery, and then paint it in any way you wish. With choices from piggy banks to plates to tea light holders, everyone can channel their inner artist.  Come back for your piece the next day and for an extra £1 they will varnish it for you to make sure the colours are sealed.

For Older Kids and Teenagers

If you’ve got older children or teenagers to entertain, you’ll know a break away with the parents isn’t always appealing for them. However if you throw in a trip to Bounce Below, they’ll soon be bouncing into the car!

Bounce Below (children have to be over seven) is accessed through a network of slate tunnels into an area where you can slide, jump and bounce across nets that hang suspended between caves. There are six levels to bounce around and four industrial slides so you can sit back and relax, or you could join in!

If bouncing isn’t their thing, perhaps karting will get their attention. Redline Indoor Karting is a short trip away from our hotel and gives the kids (over eights and a minimum height of 135cm) a chance to let off steam safely on a supervised race track. Not just for kids, adults can join in too so all the family can race each other.

Whether its adrenalin fuelled day out, or a laid back creative day of painting, there’s something for everyone, so get booking a week away with the kids.
